Port Blair, April 12: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has declared that all Government Offices in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands including Industrial Establishments will remain closed on Sunday 14th  April, 2024 on account of birthday of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in accordance with the instructions contained in the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel and Trainings Office Memorandum Number 12/4/2020-jca dated 14th March, 2024.

It is brought to the notice of general consumers and government departments that power supply will remain suspended in the following areas on 13.04.2024 (Saturday) and 14.04.2024 (Sunday) from 0700 Hrs. to 1400 Hrs. in connection with the upkeeping of transmission and distribution lines:

Mayabunder, April 10: The Police Observer for the Lok Sabha General Election – 2024 Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Ravi Joseph, IPS, diligently assessed the readiness for the upcoming General Election 2024 in the North and Middle Andaman District. Commencing his visit at this district, Shri Ravi Joseph began by visiting polling stations located in remote areas under the jurisdiction of Rangat Tehsil on 09/04/2024.

Port Blair, April 10: Responding to the emergent situation, Andaman and Nicobar Command’s Floating Dock Navy (FDN)-2 successfully undertook dry docking of two DSS ships MV Bharat Seema and MV Strait Island on 03 Apr 24.

Towards this, NSRY of ANC swiftly mobilized its expertise and resources for obtaining Naval HQs approval of docking plans, preparation of dock bed with 81 dock blocks and undertaking the operation, within a short duration of five days. Upon completion, ongoing repairs and undocking scheduled on 15 Apr 24, both ships would be sea worthy to ensure the critical inter-island lifeline services. While this is the maiden twin docking of DSS ships, ANC has regularly provided the much needed critical docking support on FDN-1 as well as FDN-2 to civil ships operating in A&N.
